Hertza had an outstanding se-
nior season this past winter at
West Bloomfield High School. In
addition to his county title, he
won the Oakland Activities As-
sociation Division II champi-
onship and he broke team records
for both six and 11 dives.
After falling to 27th place af-
ter three of 11 dives at the Class
A state meet, Hertza rallied to
finish 10th.
JUSTIN ISHBIA went 6-for-8
as he helped the Birmingham
Seaholm High School baseball
team split an April 24 double-
header with state-ranked Birm-
ingham Brother Rice. Seaholm
won the opener 7-6 but dropped
the nightcap 5-4.
Through Seaholm's first 11
games (the Maples were 9-2), Ish-
bia was leading the team in bat-
ting average, on-base percentage
and stolen bases. He also was
playing well defensively at sec-
ond base.
MAT ISHBIA had a fine season
this past winter with the Seaholm
junior varsity basketball team.
Ishbia, the lone freshman on
the roster, led the squad in as-
sists and he was the second-high-
est scorer. He broke the team
season steals record, but the
mark was topped by two steals
by another player.
