Young Israel
Joint Dinner

The Young Israel Council of Met-
ropolitan Detroit will hold its
Fifth Annual Joint Dinner be-
ginning with an hors d'oeuvres
reception at 6 p.m., May 7, at the
Plaza Hotel in southfield. The
dinner will be sponsored by the
Council's four branches and the
community is invited to attend.
This year's Young Israel hon-
orees include: Mr. Jonathan
Brateman of Young Israel of
Southfield; Mr. Manuel Levitsky
of Young Israel of Oak-Woods;
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Novetsky of
Young Israel of Greenfield; and
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sperber of
Young Israel of West Bloomfield.
Mr. Ruby Davidman, director
of the Young Israel Council in Is-
rael, will be the speaker at the
dinner. There is a charge. For in-

Congregation Beth Achim, on
Saturday, April 8, will celebrate
Shabbat Hanoar at 8:45 a.m.
Children of all ages will par-
ticipate in conducting the ser-
vices including reading from the
Torah, reading the prophetic pas-
sage and special reading in He-
brew and english.
Following services, there will
be a luncheon for participants,
their parents and grandparents.
There will be a passover program
presented in conjunction with the
Beth achim Youth Department,
JEFF (Jewish Experience for
Families) and the religious
school.
Participants included Steven
Schostak, who will chant the
P'suka D'Zimrah; Eric Sirota,
who will do Shacharit; Torah ser-
vice will be led by Aaron Wasser-
mann with the Torah reading
done by Etan Berman; the
Haftorah will be chanted by
Michael Schostak; Marc Berman
will lead Musaf; Suzan Kass, La-
hav USY president, will deliver
the sermon. Other participants
include: Beht Alter, Sandra
Berman, Pele Browner, matt
Feldman, Allison Gordon, Eliz-
abeth Gordon, Jordan Grube,
Scott Kass, Molly Levenson, Cale
Wassermann Marcus, A.J.
Schostak, Adam Weingarten,
Sean Wein Garten.
