Book Bites
Discussion Set

The Kommandant's Mistress by
Sherri Szeman will be the fea-
tured book in the next Book Bites
discussion series on Tuesday,
April 11, at 7:30 p.m.
Sponsored by the Cultural
Commission of Congregation
Beth Achim, this session will be
held at the home of Diane Sil-
verstein. The reviewer for the
evening will be Irma Glaser.
There is no charge for this se-
ries. Dessert will be served. If you
would like to attend, respond to
the synagogue office, 352-8670.

able at the synagogue's library
and at local bookstores.

Pesach Program
Set At JPM

Passover Pop-In, a program for
families co-sponsored by the Jew-
ish Community Center's Judaic
and Family Education Depart-
ment and Jewish Experiences for
Families, will take place on Sun-
day, April 2, at the Jimmy Pren-
tis Morris Jewish Community
Center from 2 to 4 p.m.
The program will give parents
and children the opportunity to
learn about how Passover plays
an important role in Jewish life
and will include a series of expe-
riential activities. Each family
will be able to make and take
matzah balls home to serve at
their own seders. In addition,
they will have the opportunity to
take part in Passover-related pro-
jects such as making charoset,
afikomen bags, screenprinted
Passover handwashing towels,
and seder puppets.
Entertainment will be provid-
ed at 3;15 by Laura Pershin, a
storyteller who will share stories
of Passover, and at 3:45 p.m. by
Jeff Levine, who will lead singing.
Admission for the day will be
Passover foods for Yad Ezra. For

History Tour
Is Planned

The sisterhood of Temple Kol Ami
will sponsor a program titled 'Tour-
ing Historic Jewish Detroit" on
Sunday, April 9, at 12:45 p.m. Flo-
rence Vinsky, a Detroit teacher and
history enthusiast, will lead the
tour of neighborhoods and historic
sites that are an important part
of this community's Jewish past.
The bus will depart at 1 from
the temple parking lot and re-
turns at 5 p.m. A box lunch will
be provided. There is a charge.
