Need Volunteers
The Jewish Federation of Met-
ropolitan Detroit will sponsor
activities and volunteer oppor-
tunities for Purim.
Fleischman ResidencelBlum-
berg Plaza in West Bloomfield
will need volunteers for three
events: a Purim festival with ac-
tress Ellen Sandweiss on March
12 at 1:30 p.m.; the story of
Purim told through the use of
Russian puppets; and a Purim
prom with seniors from the Jew-
ish Community Campus and
Hillel Day School sixth graders
on March 16, at 1 p.m. For de-

At the Jewish Home for Aged's
Prentis Manor in Southfield, vol-
unteers can assist in coordinat-
ing a Purim party on March 12.

The Jimmy Prentis Morris
Jewish Community Center's will
host the Hamantaschen Bake-
Off for seniors and nursery school
children on March 15 at 10 a.m.
Also on March 15, at 10 a.m.,
Amy Singer and Michelle Klein-
man will conduct a special Purim
project for pre-school to kinder-
garten-aged children. There will
be singing and dancing at the in-
tergenerational Dor l'Dor Purim
Party March 16, at 1 p.m. A fee

cation (ME) will host the Great
Purim Parcel Project on March
12 from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the

Community Center will have
"Purim Bingo for Kids" on March

derly, a program of the Jewish
Family Service, will need volun-
teers to help residents make
hamantaschen and make Purim
packages for new Americans at

teers will help Menorah House,
a non-Federation agency, hold a
Purim pagent 2:30 p.m. March
16, with prizes being awarded to
the resident with the best holi-
day costume. Volunteers will also

for a Purim party for Menorah
House residents and their fam-

at its three facilities to help co-
ordinate Purim activities for its

tel Apartments in Oak Park the

will read the megillah and per-
form a short play with the resi-
dents on March 15. At
Hechtman Federation Apart-
ments in West Bloomfield
klezmers and children from
Lubovitch will entertain resi-
dents on March 16. Prentis Fed-
eration Apartments in Southfield
will need volunteers for its an-
nual intergenerational Purim
brunch for residents on March

Aliyah
Expo Series
The meaning and significance of
making aliyah to Israel will be
discussed at 7:30 p.m., March 13,
in the Max M. Fisher Building.
"Oleh Rights...the Full Story"
is part of the three-part "Aliyah
Expo" series of workshops spon-
sored by the Jewish Federation's
Michigan/Israel Connection.
Eli Birnbaum, division direc-
tor of the World Zionist Organi-
zation of the students and
academics department, will lead
the discussion.
On March 21, the "Aliyah
Expo" continues with a workshop
on moving to Israel, and con-
cludes on March 27 with a dis-
cussion on the personal and
professional opportunities indi-
viduals have once in Israel.

PNAI Hosts
Yosef Goell
PNAI (Parents of North Ameri-
can Israelis) will present Yosef
Goell, who will speak on "The
Peace Process — The Palestin-
ian Aspect," on Thursday, March
23, at 7:30 p.m. at the Agency for
Jewish Education.
Yosef Goell is an American-
Israeli who made aliyah in 1948.
He is a political and public affairs
columnist for the Jerusalem Post.
He also is retired as lecturer in
political science at the Hebrew
University.
