of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Jan.
11. Mrs. Rhodes was a teacher
for more than 40 years in the
Chattanooga public and religious
schools. Mrs. Rhodes, a native of
Brooklyn, N.Y., graduated from
City College of New York and
UTC. In the 1950's, she moved
to Chattanooga and began her ca-
reer teaching elementary school
and Hebrew and Judaic studies.
She was a member of Hadassah,
VFW Post 1289 Auxilliary, the
Jewish Cultural Arts Committee
of the Jewish Community Foun-
dation, the Congregation Beth
Sholom executive board and the
Jewish Community Center board
and was honored in 1989 as "Vol-
unteer of the Year" by the Jew-
ish Community Federation. Mrs.
Rhodes is survived by her hus-
band, Dr. Albert C. Rhodes;
daughter and son-in-law, Alicia
and Rabbi David Nelson of
Southfield, son and daughter-in-
law, Dr. Clayton and Janice
Rhodes; daughter and son-in-law,
Selena and Malcolm Katz; son
and daughter-in-law, Dr. Harvey
'Dusty" and Terri Rhodes; grand-
children, Harry, Debra and Reva
