Class Probes
Supernatural

Life After Death and the Super-
natural will be the topic of a lec-
ture given at 9 p.m., Saturday,
Jan. 14, at Machon L'Torah,
15221 W. Ten Mile Rd. in Oak
Park, by Rabbi Shmuel Irons,
dean of the Kollel Institute of
Greater Detroit. As part of his
ongoing series on Jewish histo-
ry, Rabbi Irons will explore the
Jewish belief regarding an af-
terlife dating from Biblical and
Talmudic times to the present.
"Research into the question of
life and death, is probably one of
the most important and fruitful
areas of human inquiry that ex-
ists," said Rabbi Irons. "Every
major decision we make in life is
affected by our attitude about
death and an afterlife. Ulti-
mately, if there is no afterlife,
life itself is full of countless
unanswerable questions and
lacking any real meaning and di-
rection. Although there are rel-
atively few people that avail
themselves, there is a wealth of
research both ancient and mod-
ern regarding this subject."
For further information about
this class or Rabbi Irons' ongo-
ing history series, please call Ma-
chon L'Torah at 967-0888 or Dr.
Mark Blumenkhel, 557-5725.
There is a charge.
