Jewish Federations' (CJF) exec-
utive committee as a vice presi-
dent. Mr. Giles also serves as the
co-chairman of the CJF Gover-

Carol Rosenberg
MARGOT PARR has been
named executive director of the
Jewish Home for Aged by the
agency's operating board. Ms.
Parr served as interim executive
director during the past year.
Her responsibilities will con-
tinue to include working
with the operating board and
overseeing Prentis Manor (a
skilled care nursing home)
and the Fleischman Resi-
dence/Blumberg Plaza (a home
for the aged).
An 11-year veteran in long-
term care, Ms. Parr also will help
complete the transition of nurs-
ing home residents from Borman
Hall to Menorah House, act as a
liaison to the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit and be
a resource for issues related to
- the care of the frail Jewish el-
derly.
The operating board also has
appointed Carol Rosenberg the
assistant director of the Jewish
Home for Aged. Ms. Rosenberg
has served in management posi-
tions for the Jewish Home for
Aged over the past 15 years.
Her new duties include her re-
cent appointment as adminis-
JAY ALIX, a prominent Detroit
corporate turnaround and
crisis management consultant,
has been appointed by President
Clinton to the bipartisan nation-
al Bankruptcy Review Commis-
sion.
The commission is being es-
tablished to oversee the recently
enacted reform to the nation's
bankruptcy system. It will con-
tain three presidential appoint-
ments and two from the U.S.
Senate, House of Representatives
and Supreme Court.
Mr. Alix, of Southfield-based
Jay Alix & Associates, first at-
tracted local attention in the late
1980s, when he was in his early
30s. At that time, he saved the
more-than-one-century-old Fred
Sanders baked goods, candy and
ice cream company from liquida-
tion during its bankruptcy reor-
ganization.
Since then, Mr. Alix has di-
rected the successful corporate
turnarounds of General Motors'
National Car Rental, Unisys,
Wang Laboratories, G. Heileman
Brewing, Hartmarx and Cardi-
nal Industries.
Most recently, he served as
the court-appointed examiner in
the Phar-Mor bankruptcy to in
the fraud which result-
ed in more than $1 billion in
losses.
