Julie Fershtman
JULIE FERSHTMAN, a Bing-
ham Farms attorney, has been
named chair-elect of the State
Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers
Section. Her term expires in Sep-
tember, when she will become
chair of the section.
With 7,200 members, the
Young Lawyers Section is the
largest in the Michigan Bar. It
also is the oldest.
Ms. Fershtman, who focuses
her practice on insurance defense,
employment, commercial litiga-
tion and equine law, also has
been appointed to a three-year
term on the board of commis-
sioners of the Michigan Bar.
She received her undergradu-
ate and law degrees from Emory
University in Atlanta.
BURTON FARBMAN of Hunt-
ington Woods, chairman and
chief executive officer of the Farb-
man Group, has been named a
member of the Detroit Zoological
Commission by Detroit Mayor
Dennis Archer.
The commission oversees the
Detroit Zoological Institute,
which runs the Detroit Zoo, Belle
Isle Zoo and Belle Isle Aquarium.
