HERE'S YOUR CHANCE TO REACH A
THUR PRIM AUDIENCE.

Thomas Lutz

HMC Hosts
Thomas Lutz

Thomas Lutz, director of the
Holocaust Memorial Department
of the Topography of Terror
Foundation in Berlin, will be the
second speaker as the Holocaust
Memorial Center's celebration of
its 10th anniversary year con-
tinues. The event will be held
in Shiffman Hall of the
Maple/Drake Jewish Community
Center Dec. 6. A reception from
7:30 to 8 p.m. will precede the
presentation.
Mr. Lutz, who had trained in
1983 to be a high school teacher,
rejected the mandatory two years
of service with the German
armed forces and chose instead
to volunteer with the Action Ser-
vice for Peace as an alternative.
He donated his time to the Holo-

caust museum at Auschwitz and
conducted study tours for Ger-
mans visiting that killing ground.
For seven years, he directed
the organization's Memorial Mu-
seums Department which he
founded and directed. His pri-
mary function was facilitating
communication among the coor-
dinating the activities of the hith-
erto isolated Holocaust memorial
museums in Germany.
Mr. Lutz will provide a guided
tour of Germany's "Topography
of Terror." The sites of concen-
tration camps and other Nazi
locations that punctuate the
German landscape still provoke
horror. Mr. Lutz has been in-
strumental in supporting and co-
ordinating the valuable work of
these memorials in Germany,
helping Germans confront the
past to create a better future.
Refreshments will be served.
The building is barrier free and
the public is invited. There is no
charge but reservations are nec-
essary. For directions/reserva-
tions/information, call the HMC,

JEWISH NEWS READERS PLAN ON SPENDING
$170 MILLION FOR NEW CARS IN 1995

Jewish News subscribers have a love affair with new cars. According to
Simmons Market Research Bureau, one-third of Jewish News subscriber house-
holds will purchase a new car in the coming year, nearly 3.5 times higher

than the national average.
That translates into $170 million worth of new car purchases!
And when they're not buying, they're leasing. Simmons found that 26%
of Jewish News households have at least one leased car, 4 times
higher than the national average!
No wonder The Jewish News is the publication of choice in southeast
Oakland County for automobile sales, leasing, and service advertising!

Issue Date: January 6

Space Reservation Deadline: December 21
