Mitvah Workshops
Discuss Ritual

Area rabbis and educators will pre-
sent a series of mitzvah workshops
on the hows and why of Jewish rit-
ual. Sponsored by the Conserva-
tive Movement Scholar in
Residence Program, "Making Spir-
ituality Real For You" will take
place Oct. 27 at 7:15 p.m. at Hil-
lel Day School.
Workshops will include Rabbi
Irwin Groner on "Spirituality,
Shabbat, and the Family;" Rabbi
Efry Spectre on "Honoring Our
Parents: The Sandwich Genera-
tion;" Rabbis Leonardo Bitran and
Daniel Nevins on "Wrapped in Ho-
liness: Tallit and Tefillin;" Rabbi
Aaron Bergman, "Shema and Med-
itation;" Ruth Bergman, "Purity of
Self and Home: Mikvah;" Rabbi
Mitch Cohen (director, Camp
Ramah Ontario), "Involving Teens
in Jewish T iife;" Rabbi William Ger-
shon, "Kashrut: You are What You
Eat;" Rabbi Elliot Pachter, "The
Jewish Way to Mourn;" Cantor
Samuel Greenbaum, "A Sign of
th4e Covenant; Brit Milah;" Dr.
Mark Smiley, "Making God Part of
Our Daily Lives."
Rabbi Moshe Tutnauer, the
Movement's month-long scholar in
residence, will give the keynote ad-
dress and lead a special workshop
on 'The Spirituality of Living in the
Land." The program is free of
charge and open to the communi-
ty.

The Applebaum Jewish Parent-
ing Center in Cooperation with
the American Committee for the
Welzmann Institute, the Greater
Detroit Chapter of Hadassah and
the Stars of David, will present a
program dealing with infertility,
adoption and the Jewish couple.
The speaker will be Rabbi
Michael Gold, author of And
Hannah Wept.
The class will take place Nov.
20 at 9 a.m. Call Ruth Beresh,
