Sheri Schiff was among tbe enthusi-
astic viewers who gathered around
a television set at the Max M. Fisher
Building to watch the signing of the
agreement between Israel and the
Palestinians last September.

The closest thing to a Jewish barn raising took place on July 4th weekend when
volunteers showed up to build a biblical theme playground at the Jewish
Community Center's Jimmy Prentis Morris Building in Oak Park.

Members of the community
expressed their feelings about
unmet needs at an open forum
arranged by Federation in January.
Speakers, like Debbie Falk Salinger,
urged funding for a variety of
needs, from Jewish services to
people with disabilities to Israel
programs for teen-agers.

Detroit sent hundreds of young people to Israel this summer for a mixture of
work, study and fun. This group of high school students went under the
auspices of Project Discovery.
