New Workshops
For Teachers

The Agency for Jewish Education
will begin its second year of the
NIRIM Professional Enrichment
Program with two workshop ses-
sions for teachers in congrega-
tional and community schools.
On Oct. 5 from noon to 1:30
p.m., staff from the AJE's Jewish
Experiences for Families depart-
ment will discuss "Trends and
Retrends: Current Trends in
Jewish Family Education."
Teachers will be provided with
ideas and materials to bring fam-
ily education into their class-
rooms in this first part of an
eight-part series. A kosher lunch
will be provided.
Teachers also are encouraged
to attend a Creativity Night at
the ATE Oct. 13, 7 - 9 p.m. Raquel
Pomerantz Gershon, director of
the AJE's Teachers Resource
Center, will introduce partici-
pants to ways to teach about
tzedakah, including games and
songs.
All participants will receive
two NIRIM units for each work-
shop attended. There is no charge
for either program. For informa-

7:30 a.m. Oct. 6 in the Southfield
Radisson Plaza.

Council, the Federation Forum
will provide both candidates with
an opportunity to share their
thoughts and visions for the state
of Michigan.
Bob Carr represents Michi-
gan's 8th Congressional District,
which includes Ingham and Liv-
ingston counties, as well as parts
of Genesee, Washtenaw, Oakland
and Shiawasee counties.
Mr. Carr serves as chairman
of the Transportation Appropri-
ations Subcommittee and serves
as vice chairman of the Appro-
priations Subcommittee on Com-
merce, Justice, State and
Judiciary in Lansing.
Spencer Abraham is a long-
time Republican activist who has
served as campaign manager in
two U.S. Congressional cam-
paigns and as a statewide field
coordinator in a U.S. Senate race.
He is also co-founder and former
head of a political and marketing
research firm involved in nu-
merous statewide campaigns.
