Council has new members. This
year's council members are David
Berkower, Kevin Elbinger, Julie
Galazan, Lisa Jackier, Aaron
Kleid, Danielle Kuffler, Josh
Lerner, Steve Rosen, Jason
Roskind, Paul Schapira, and
David Smith.
A caravan to the HMD
Hayride on Oct. 2 will meet at
5:30 p.m. at 12 Mile and Orchard
Lake Roads in the parking lot
near Rossevelts. The Caravan
will leave for Wiards Orchard at
6 p.m. Respond by Sept. 28; call

Oakland University Jewish
Students Organization/Hillel will
have a table set up at OU's Stu-
dents Organization Day in Oak-
land Center September 29 from
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Maple/Drake
Plans Classes

Classes at the Maple/Drake Jew-
ish Community Center are start-
ing. On Tuesdays, starting Oct.
4 for eight weeks at 10:30 a.m., a
class in T'ai Chi will be conduct-
ed by Martial Arts certified in-
structor John
Beginning sign language will
be held Oct. 3 for 10 weeks at 7
p.m. On Oct. 4 for five weeks, a
class in mahjongg will be held at
9:30 a.m.
Marcia }Clain will teach Canas-
ta starting Oct. 6 for four classes
at 9:30 a.m. Organizing Your
Family Photos will instruct on
the proper way to store and pre-
sent photographs. Classes will
start Oct. 11 for three classes at
7 p.m.
Jewish Heritage Through Jew-
ish Art with art historian Esther
Cooper from the DIA will start
Oct. 20 for three weeks at 12:30
p.m. Each session will explore a
different phase of Jewish art,
manuscripts and superstitions.

Lisa Singleton will give art in-
struction at the JCC. Creative
Ceramics for adults meet on
Tuesday afternoons. Creative Art
class is for young people on Tues-
days from 4:30-5:30 p.m. This
children's art program is suited
for the age range of 6 yo 9 years
old. Both of these classes will be
held at Maple/Drake. For infor-

of Life" through the death camp of Auschwitz.
Afterwards, they flew to Israel to celebrate the
continuation of the Jewish people.
