HERSHEL STUART

Hershel L. Stuart, 64, of West
Bloomfield, died Sept. 9. Mr.
Stuart was a dedicated com-
munity supporter. In addition
to being the founder and own-
er of Federal Fireplace and Bar-
becue Co., he devoted many
years to civic involvement in the
greater metropolitan area, serv-
ing as chairman of the board of
Oakland Family Services, trea-
surer of the Jewish Communi-
ty Center and member of many
other charitable organizations.
Mr. Stuart entered the fam-
ily business as a young man
and built it into the largest fire-
place company in the region,
later expanding it into new out-
lying areas of Sterling Heights
and Novi.
Mr. Stuart is survived by his
wife, Joyce; sons and daughters-
in-law, Peter and Lori of Or-
chard Lake, Brandt and Bon-
nie of Eugene, Ore.; daughter
and son-in-law, Allison and Dr.
Steven Gluck of Bloomfield
Hills; sisters and brother-in-
law, Elaine Kohner of Farm-
ington Hills, Florin and Shel-
don Halpern of Huntington
Woods; grandchildren, Zachary
and Alexandra Stuart, Saman-

71, of Southfield, died Sept. 14.
He is survived by his wife, Ver-
