and Yom Kippur services at the
Maple-Drake JCC. Like directors
at other temples, synagogues and
organizations, JPI's Marilyn
Wolfe says elderly can call to re-
quest transportation to services
they can't attend on their own.
"If there is someone who want-
ed to go, but had no way of going,
I'm sure one of our members
would pick him up," she said. El

day meals, group discussions led by
volunteers, as well as cantorial and

Jewish Family Service — JFS
accepts donations of High Holiday
tickets and money toward the pur-
chase of tickets for the elderly, emi-
gres and other people who cannot
afford to attend services. JFS work-
ers also will match senior citizens and
new Americans with people opening
their homes for holiday dinners and
transportation to and from services.

Group Apartments For the Elderly
—JFS's Group Apartments will host
holiday meals, as well as activities

Jimmy Prentis MOMS Jewish Com-
munity Center —All services will be
held in Jaffe Hall. Rosh Hashanah ser-
vices will be held 6:45 p.m. Sept. 5;
9 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. Sept. 6; and 9
a.m. Sept 7. Yom Kippur services will
be held 7 p.m. Sept 14 and 9:15 p.m.
Sept. 19. High Holiday tickets cost
$20 for members. Senior who do not
belong to the JCC pay $25. All others
pay $40. Call Leslee Magidson at

Jewish Parents Institute — A sec-

be held 2 p.m. Sept. 6 in Shiffman

"A lot of the people know each
other. A lot of them come to the
Center for activities throughout
the year. There is a sense of com-
munity," Ms. Magidson said.
Sinai Hospital celebrates the
High Holidays by sending care
packages to Yad Ezra kosher food
pantry. In many cases, illness
prevents patients from gathering
for formal observance. Rabbi
Leonard Perlstein, director of pas-
toral care, and volunteers at Sinai
pass out prayer books to individ-
uals, and will, on request, blow
the shofar at their bedsides.
At the Jewish Family Service
group apartments in Southfield,
