Plan Workshops

The Agency for Jewish Education
will kick °felts second year of the
NIRINI Professional Enrichment
Program with "A Taste of Honey
Back-to-School Workshops," in
cooperation with the Jewish Ed-
ucators Council of Metropolitan
Detroit.
On Aug. 28 from 9 a.m. to
12:15 p.m. congregational Jew-
ish educators will participate in
orientation workshops at Adat
Shalom Synagogue to help them
prepare for the beginning of the
school year.
The workshops include: "Plan-
ning for a Sweet year" with
Shawn Locke, director of school
services at the AJE; "An Abun-
dance of Activities: Beyond-the
Worksheet and Past the Lecture"
led by Fran Pearlman, director
of education at Temple Israel;
"Getting Off to a Good Start: Cre-
ating a. positive Environment for.
Learning Hebrew Prayer" with
Nira Lev, director of the Hebrew
Interactive Learning Center of
AJE; "Keeping Our Eyes on
Youth" a new ME sponsored pro-
gram for teens in Jewish high
schools to become involved in the
production of Jewish videos, with
workshop leader Sari Cicurel, ed-
ucational manager and director
of programming for Booth Com-
munications.
Following the workshops,
Raquel Pomerantz Gershon, di-
rector of the AJE Teacher's Re-
source Center, will provide
teachers with materials to make
creative bulletin boards for their
classrooms and innovative ideas
that can be adapted throughout
the year.

Holds Event

The Ahavah Group (members be-
tween 40 and 60) of Congregation
B'nai Moshe will have a kick-off
event and yearly planning meet-
ing Sept. 4 at the home of
Pearlena and Jason Bodzin.
