Foundation is looking for vol-
unteers to offer support to ter-
minally ill cancer patients and
their families. Hospice volun-
teers work with a team of pro-
fessionals to provide compas-
sionate care for the dying.
Home volunteers provide com-
panionship, friendship and as-
sistance to patients and to care
givers. Bereavement volunteers
offer support to families expe-
riencing the loss of a loved one,
and special needs volunteers
fulfill patients' special requests.

* Researchers at Henry Ford
Hospital are looking for men
and women to participate in a
new drug trial aimed at reduc-
ing urinary incontinence (leak-
ing of urine). Those eligible for
the study must be 30 to 75
years old with at least one
episode of leakage per day. In
addition, participants must be
in good health with no history
of bladder cancer. More than
half of the participants will take
an investigational drug and
some will be given a placebo for
six weeks. All medications, lab-
oratory blood tests and EKGs
are free. Valet parking and
mileage will be reimbursed.

* Volunteers age 14 and older
are needed immediately to
work in the Exceptional Eques-
trian therapeutic horseback rid-
ing program in Novi on
weeknights (except Monday),
from 6 to 8:15 p.m., and on Sat-
urday mornings and after-
noons. Volunteers will work
directly with children and hors-
es. No experience is necessary.
The only physical requirement
is that you can walk for 45-
minute intervals. The program
serves people with physical,
mental and emotional disabil-

grants the wishes of children

with chronic and life-threaten-

will present "Great Expecta-
tions," a free,.half-day seminar
for people thinking about start-
ing a family and for those al-
ready expecting a child. The
seminar will be held 8:30 a.m

clude practical information on
getting pregnant, birthing op-
tions, how to choose a doctor
and managing the life-style
changes that accompany par-
enthood. A psychologist will
speak about the emotional as-
pects of parenthood. There also
will be a tour of Botsford's new

Care givers

* Sinai Hospital's department
of physical medicine and reha-
bilitation announces the for-
mation of "Caring and
Sharing," a support group for
adult care givers. The free pro-
gram, led by a social worker,
psychologist or clinical nurse
specialist, is designed to give
adults caring for sick or dis-
abled adults the opportunity to
share experiences, discover new
ideas and find resources that
can help. If necessary, the care
givers may bring their loved
ones to the meeting. An activ-
