next night Aug. 23, Midrasha will
offer "A Map for High Holy Day
Services," with Dr. Joe Lewis,
cantor for senior High Holiday
services at the JPM Jewish Com-
munity Center. On Aug. 24, Rab-
bi Leonardo Bitran of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek
B'nai Israel Center will present
"Prayers and Melodies for the Fi-
estas Altas: An Overview of the
Sephardic Mahzor." On Aug. 25,
Rabbi Elimelech Silberberg of
Bais Chabad Torah Center will
discuss "Mystical Reflections on
the High Holidays."

Aug. 30, Midrasha scholar-in-res-
idence Rabbi Rod Glogower will
discuss "Talmudic Insights into
the Rosh Hashanah Liturgy." On
Aug. 31, Ruth Bergman, execu-
tive director of the Michigan Re-
gion of United Synagogue, will
lead a text study session titled
"Purim and Yom Kippur:
Some Surprising Connections."
Ms. Bergman's session will
preview monthly study series
on the Book of Esther that
she will be teaching later this
year, co-sponsored by Midrasha
and the Eugene and Marcia Ap-
plebaum Jewish Parenting Cen-
ter.
The final program will take
place on Sept. 1 and is titled,
"Learning to Say I'm Sorry, and
Other Topics for Family Dialogue
Around High Holiday Time." Fea-
tured speakers will be Harlene
W. Appelman, director of educa-
tional services for the AJE; and
Susan Stettner, director of the
JEFF (Jewish Experiences for
Families).
Except for the Aug. 18 session
on "Jewish Prayer," which will be
presented in Hebrew by Edward
Codish, no knowledge of Hebrew
is necessary.
