HMC Plans
For In-Service

Three young Jewish leaders will
be honored by the Jewish Feder-
ation of Metropolitan Detroit with
awards in recognition of their con-
tributions to Federation and the
Jewish community.
Suzan F. Curhan, newly in-
stalled president of Federation's
Young Adult Division, will receive
Federation's Mark Family Young
Leadership Award for Outstand-
ing Service to the Young Adult
Division. David R. Victor will be
the recipient of Federation's
Frank A. Wetsman Leadership
Award. Caren Landau-Levine
has been tapped for the Sylvia Si-
mon Greenberg Leadership
Award.
Mrs. Curhan has served on the
YAD executive board and held
many Allied Jewish Campaign
positions within the division. She
is a member of the United Jew-
ish Appeal Young Leadership
Cabinet and sits on the Affinity .
Groups Committee of Federa-
tion's Community Outreach and
Involvement Department.
Mr. Victor is a YAD past pres-
ident and sits on the Federation
board of governors. He served on
the UJA Young Leadership Cab-
inet and held many Campaign
positions. Hig- other affiliations
include Think Twice Foundation,
AIPAC, Kadima, JARC, Motor
City Political Action Committee
(MOPAC), Israel Bonds.
Mrs. Laudau-Levine is a mem-
ber of Federation's Women's Di-
vision executive committee and
participates in its Women's Lead-
ership Series. She also takes part
in Federation's Leadership Con-
tinium. She has held several
positions in the Women's Divi-
sion, served on Federation's
MAKOR educational develop-
ment committee and was a YAD
liaison to the Women's Division.

The Holocaust Memorial Center
will offer two in-service training
sessions to docents and volun-
teers on techniques for handling
groups younger than seventh
graders.
On June 23 at 7 p.m., Tammi
Fox, a media specialist in the
Plymouth Canton Schools and a
volunteer librarian at Temple Kol
Ami, will present and discuss
some of the Holocaust literature
now being published for pre-
teens.
On June 30 at 7 p.m., Eileen
Kerr, a teacher with the Clio
School District, will focus on the
techniques and methodology that
can be employed in instructing
young people.
All HMC volunteers are in-
vited to attend these sessions. If

In recognition of the valuable
service it provides the citizens of
Michigan, the Holocaust Memo-
rial Center received two 1994
Michigan Week Community
Achievement Awards.
The Oakland County Board of
Commissioners issued a procla-
mation recognizing the Holocaust
Memorial Center, its supporteers
and volunteers for their unselfish
commitment for the betterment
of the community.
The Michigan State Legisla-
ture congratulated the staff and
supporters of the Holocaust
Memorial Center.

Because of the enthusiastic re-
sponse from the recent Irwin I.
Cohn Memorial Lecture in Tal-
mudic Law and Ethics featuring
Laibl Wolf of Melbourne, Aus-
tralia, speaking on "Conflict Res-
olution Theory — A Kabbalistic
and Halachic Approach," a new
class will commence on Sunday
evenings in the home of Rabbi
Herschel Finman, 23610 Gard-
ner, Oak Park at 7:30 p.m.
The class, called "Tanya, an
approach to spiritual well being,"
will focus on the relationship that
man has with the universe and
God's relationshp with man.
The class is open to the public;
there is no charge. Reservations
