Mission Filling
2 Its Waiting List

Larry Jackier

Some 850 applications with de-
posits have been received in the
Michigan Miracle Mission office
to fill two El Al jumbo jets to Is-
rael.
Individuals who sign up now
still have an excellent chance of
getting aboard the mission, which
will carry 20 buses of Michigani-
ans throughout Israel, May 7-17,
1995.
Mission Chairman Larry Jack-
ier said, based on experience of
the first Miracle Mission, some
individuals will have to drop out
for personal reasons, which
leaves room for those on the wait-
ing list. On the first Miracle Mis-
sion, everyone on the waiting list
was able to participate.
Mr. Jackier said Mission Ex-
ecutive Director Jane Sherman
is accepting applications with a
$500 deposit on a first-come, first-
served basis in the mission office,
Suite 206 in the Max M. Fisher
Building.
On May 7, 1995, two El Al Boe-
ing 747s will depart from Detroit
Metropolitan Airport and arrive
at the Ovda Air Force Base on Is-
rael's border with Egypt.
While the itinerary has not
been set, according to Ms. Sher-
man, mission-goers likely will vis-
it the Red Sea Aquarium's
underwater observatory, the Tim-
na Nature Reserve and the Hai-
Bar Zoological Reserve.
Mission-goers will stay in 5-
star hotels, and sightseeing
throughout Israel will be in air-
conditioned buses. Separate
tracks will be available for veter-
an travelers, as well as first time
visitors to Israel.
Besides Mr. Jackier, trip lead-
ers are co-chairmen Michael
Feldman, Sy Finkelstein, Linda
Klein, Ronald Klein and Ben
Rosenthal. The trip is sponsored
by the Jewish Federation of Met-
ropolitan Detroit and co-spon-
sored by The Jewish News.
For information or an applica-
tion, call Jane Sherman, 642-
4260.
