JPI Plans
B'nai Mitzvah

The Jewish Parents Institute will
honor seven boys and four girls
at the annual B'nai Mitzvah Rite
of Passage Ceremony. They have
completed a year of intensive
study, community service and
personal introspection into the
obligations and responsibilities
of becoming an adult member of
the Jewish community. There
will be two separate ceremonies
to honor the students.
On May 14, those honored will
be Eric Cale, Elizabeth Eule,
Megan Sher Golani, Brian J.A.
Landau, Eliza Lieberman, Jon-
ah Leslie Tambor.
On May 21: Benjamin J. Had-
den, Darren King, Jordan A.
Lezell, Jared Frederic Pitt, Katie
Wujczyk.
The young people have each
performed at least 32 hours of
community service.
The students also have re-
searched and prepared written
reports on Jewish subjects of per-
sonal interest.
The event will be held at 9 a.m.
at the Maple/Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center. A reception will
follow.

1994 Confirmation Class will be
honored in ceremonies in the
temple. Members of the class in-
clude: Katie Beitman, Melissa
Bolokofsky, Jayme Cohen, Adam
Feldheim, Dimitry Frankstein,
Dan Goldberg, Lauren Goodman,
Jennifer Green, Erin Lenchner,
Alison Lyngaas, Brian Lyngaas,
Rita Mant, Kathryn Mayer,
Alexander Nefouse, Jonathan
Nyquist, Tanya Shaye, Allison

BAHM Youth
Service, Program

Congregation Beth Abraham Hil-

lel Moses' Chaverim youth Group
(3rd-5th grades) will lead a Shab-
bat service May 7 beginning at
10 a.m. in the chapel. A picnic
lunch will follow the service for
all Chaverim members. There is
no charge for lunch. Call Renee
Himelhoch, 851-6880, to make
reservations.
All Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses 6th graders are invited to
join Rabbi Aaron Bergman for
the last "Ask the Rabbi" dinner
session May 10. Dinner will be-
gin at 6:15 p.m. and will end at
7:30 p.m. Dinner is free of charge.

Temple Beth El
Honors Youth

Graduates of the Temple Beth El
Religious School will be honored
at a Graduation Shabbat Service
May 13 8 p.m. at the temple.
The students, who have writ-
ten and will lead the Shabbat ser-
vice, are: Jessica Benenson,
Emily Cook, Stephen Fenwick,
Kimberly Jacobs, Marina Kvit-
naya, Jeffrey Lockman, Gurston
Nyquist, Joshua Reinicke, Jef-
frey Riger and Andrew Rogers.
The sisterhood will host an Oneg
Shabbat in their honor following
the service.
On May 15 at 10 a.m., the

Tzofim
Go Bowling

The Tzofim Group (children in
grades K 5) of Congregation B'nai
Moshe and their friends will go
bowling May 8 from 12:30 p.m.
until 2:30 p.m. at West Bloom-
field Lanes.

Torah Study
Session Set

Rabbi William Gershon of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek will
lead the Conservative Movement
Torah Study 12:30 p.m. at the
Max M. Fisher building May 12.
The study session is sponsored
by the Michigan Region of the
United Synagogue, the Michigan
Region Rabbinical Assembly, and
the Detroit Friends of the Jewish
Theological Seminary.
Study sessions are held every
Thursday. There is no charge for
the class. Lunch is no longer be-
ing provided; however, feel free
to bring a brown-bag lunch and
cold drinks will be provided at no
charge.

Men's Club
Hosts JARC

The Men's Club of Adat Shalom
will host residents of the Jewish
Association for Residential Care
for Adults with Developmental
Disabilities at 10 am. May 15.
A light brunch will be catered
by the Men's Club members. Fol-
lowing brunch, there will be a
musical program featuring a se-
lection of Jewish and folk music
by Cantor Howard Glantz.
The JARC Brunch is an an-
nual Adat Shalom Men's Club
event, which is open to all syna-
gogue families. There is no
charge. To volunteer and/or at-
tend that morning, call Burt
Aaron, 839-9050; or the syna-
gogue office, 851-5100. Reserva-
tions are required by May 12.
