he was accused of being a
British spy.
Mr. Solomon had been with
the British expeditionary forces
during World War II and saw
action in the Middle East and
Africa. After briefing British
forces after the war, he was kid-
napped on the way to his news-
paper's office in Bucharest,
Romania, and was not seen for
17 years.
His experiences in Siberia
were put down on paper and
emerged as a novel in France
called Magadan, which spent
26 weeks on a best-seller list in
that country. The book is now
available in English.
In 1965, as a result of an
amnesty he was freed and came
to Canada, where he found a
brother and sister.
He resumed his writing
career and worked with the
Canada-Israel Committee for
10 years as head of its French
department. There he edited a
monthly magazine called
Regards sur Israel, or Views on
Israel.
Mr. Solomon also worked as
a stringer for United Press
International in Montreal and
Quebec City.

In Loving Memory of

In 1875, during the Gold
Rush era, one of the best
known American Jewish ec-
centrics the self-proclaimed
"Emperor Joshua Norton" of
San Francisco prophetically
directed the city government
to build a bridge across San
Francisco Bay, a project
which was finally completed
62 years later.

We take pride in providing the
dignity, sanctity and simplicity of
Jewish Funeral services and complete
personal and professional care at a
reasonable cost.
If you choose to follow the Jewish
tradition of a graveside or cemetery
chapel service, you don't have to pay
the extra costs associated with a large
funeral home.
