At Singles Service

Laura Berman will be the fea-
tured speaker at the Singles
Shabbat Service at Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek 8:30 p.m.
May 6.
Ms. Berman is a free-lance
journalist. Her pieces have ap-
peared in many national mag-
azines.
The community-wide Singles
Shabbat Services program is
sponsored by the Michigan
Board of Rabbis, in cooperation
with The Jewish News and the
Jewish Community Center.
These services have been made

Max M. Fisher Foundation of
the Detroit Jewish Federation.

Panel Debates
Roles In Judaism

The Adult Education Commit-
tee of Congregation Beth Abra-
ham Hillel Moses will present
the Second Detroit Great Jew-
ish Debate, addressing the roles
of men and women in Judaism
7:30 p.m. April 26 at the syna-
gogue.
The issue will be debated by
a panel consisting of Rabbi
Leonardo Bitran of Shaarey
Zedek-B'nai Israel Center and
Dr. Nancy Gad-Harf, program
director of Temple Israel; and
Rabbi Edward Garsek of Etz
Chayim, Toledo, Ohio. Ques-
tions will be posed to the panel
by Rabbi Aaron Bergman of
Congregation Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses; David Gad-Hart,
executive director of the Jewish
Community Council; and Sarah
Garsek, instructor at the He-
brew Academy of Toledo.
Admission is free and. re-
freshments will be served.
