Jill volunteers two hours a
week at the Orchards, working
with children in the playroom.
She is proud of her year as BBG
president, citing an increase in
membership and the success of
the community service project.
A friend got her involved in
BBG, "and I liked it. I've made
most of my friends through
BBG. There's not a lot of Jew-
ish stuff after Hebrew school,
and it has kept me involved
Jewishly," she says.
Jill served Zahav BBG as
2nd vice president (member-
ship) and as newspaper chair.

Two Ann Arbor students won
the top prizes in the annual
Holocaust education writing
competition of CHAIM (Chil-
dren of Holocaust Survivors
Association in Michigan).
First place and $100 were
awarded to Tim Stewart-Win-
ter, a freshman at Greenhills
School. His essay was titled
"The Holocaust: A Continuing
Struggle."
Second place and $50 were
awarded to Sasha Polakow-
Suransky of Ann Arbor's Com-
munity High School. Third

School, Jill plans to attend
Michigan State University for
a year or two and then transfer
to a university that has a phys-
ical therapy program.

A total of 192 essays were
submitted from 18 high schools
in Oakland and Washtenaw
counties, including several
Catholic schools.

Stranger Awareness Workshop,
