wenty-five students from
Beth Shalom's religious
school will put several
months of hard practice
to good use on Sunday when
they host the annual Zimriya
(songfest) of the Detroit Cantors
Council.
Third- through seventh-
grade choral groups from Beth
El, Emanu-El, Adat Shalom,
Beth Shalom and Hillel Day
School will present short
programs at 1:30 p.m. March
20 in the Beth Shalom sanctu-
ary.
Host Cantor Samuel Green-
baum said each group will sing
for about 15 minutes. The
music will include liturgical
numbers and some Israeli
songs.
"It's a great opportunity for
the children in the different He-

brew schools to meet each oth-
er," the cantor said. "We'll have
several hundred singers, plus
their families." The public is in-
vited.
Beth Shalom uses its chil-
dren's choir throughout the
year, Cantor Greenbaum said,

concert is
open to the
public.

for sisterhood events, Passover
and Mother's Day. Sunday's
concert, he stressed, is not a
contest, but "just an enjoyable
time and a chance for kids to
