Glass Artist
Gives Talk
Sein Van Meurs of the Nether-
lands, a glass artist, will give
a slide presentation March 2
from 1-4 p.m. at the Center for
Creative Studies Boughton Au-
ditorium, 200 E. Kirby.
Ms. Van Meurs holds a spe-
cial place in the glass art world
because unlike most artists, she
uses sheet glass. In forming her
pieces, the factors that she is
most concerned with are the
possibilities and constraints of
gravity. Her work varies great-
ly in size, ranging from small
glass shapes to life-size and
larger works.
To attend Sein Van Meurs'
presentation and demonstra-
tions, call 872-3118.
Local Artist
Mounts Display
Henry Friedman will display
his metal sculptures, dealing
with the Holocaust, at Dearborn
High School through March 4.
He also will give a series of
lectures about the Holocaust.
Our concepts of age vary

Judith Bledsoe
At Circle Gallery
Circle Gallery, 2801 West Big
Beaver Road, in the Somerset
Collection, will present "Medi-
tations and Magic," an exhibi-
tion of colorful works by Judith
Bledsoe through March 20.
The California-born Ms.
Bledsoe has led an adventurous
life in Europe since the age of
16 and has resided in Paris for
30 years. Her luminous works
convey the artist's love affair
with life and reflect a playful
fascination with the world
around her — the people she ob-
serves in the Parisian streets,
the friends who come to visit,
the crazy antics of her many
cats, and the whimsical stories
she created as a child.
Accomplished in a variety of
media, Ms. Bledsoe includes
lush, sensuous, impressionistic
paintings; luminous, fanciful
lithographs; and richly textured
mixed-media constructions and
collages in her work. The exhi-
bition includes Ms. Bledsoe's
most recent paintings, drawings
and pastels.
