JEFF Will Hold
Three Purim Events
Jewish Experiences for Fami-
lies will hold three events
throughout the community in
celebration of Purim.
The entire community is en-
couraged to participate in the
Great Purim Parcel Project Feb.
20. In the spirit of the holiday,
parcels with at least two kinds
of treats will be sent to our
friends and fellow Jews. These
parcels can include fresh fruit
or packaged dried fruit, pack-
aged nuts, wrapped kosher can-
dy or small packages of cookies
or crackers all wrapped on a
decorated paper plate. The
packages will be hand-delivered
to people at the Jewish Home
for Aged, the Group Apart-
ments for the Elderly of the
Jewish Family Service, Sinai
Hospital of Detroit, Jewish
Meals on Wheels, Shalom De-
troit Newcomers and New Jew-
ish Americans. Families or
individuals can drop off the
parcels (shalach manot) at ei-
ther the Agency for Jewish Ed-
ucation in Southfield, the
Maple-Drake Jewish Commu-
nity Center or the Jimmy Pren-
tis Morris building 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
In addition, people can process
the parcels 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
at the Agency for Jewish Edu-
cation and/or deliver parcels be-
ginning at 1 p.m. from the
Agency for Jewish Education.
Maps and addresses will be pro-
vided.
Also on Feb. 20, JEFF is
sponsoring a Teen Purim Party
for all new Jewish American
teens, 4-6:30 p.m. at the JPM.
The program will include vol-
leyball games in the recently
constructed pool, dancing to
Russian and American music,
refreshments and prizes. Par-
ticipants need to bring towels
and bathing suits. The event is
free of charge.
In addition, JEFF and the
Jewish Community Center's
My Discovery Place are co-spon-
soring Purim Puppet Pande-
monium for families with young
children Feb. 23 from 6:30-8
p.m. at Maple-Drake. Families
will have the opportunity to cre-
ate Purim puppets and see a
puppeteer. An optional dinner
will be provided for a fee. The
program is free of charge.
For information, call the
JEFF office, 354-1050.
