Hosts 'Wizard'
The legendary fairy tale The
Wizard of Oz will grace the gi-
ant screen at the Fox Theatre
Jan. 14-16.
In honor of the movie, the
theatre lobby will be trans-
formed into Emerald City and
on every theater level, children
will be greeted by Dorothy, the
Scarecrow, the Lion, the Tin
Man, Wicked Witch and the
great and powerful Oz.
Show times are Jan. 14 at
3:30 and 7 p.m.; Jan. 15 at noon,
3:30 and 7 p.m.; Jan. 16 at 1
and 5 p.m. Tickets are on sale
at the Fox Theatre box office,
5645-6666.
January Shines
At Macomb
Macomb Center for the Per-
forming Arts will open 1994
with variety. Neil Sedaka,
sponsored by Perfect Parties,
will take the stage at 8 p.m.
Jan. 14 with comedian Jack
Swersie opening.
Macomb Jr. Players will pre-
sent Beauty and the Beast, a
special family program, 3 and
7 pm. Jan. 16.
Guildhall String Orchestra,
comprised of 11 string players
plus harpsichord, will be pre-
sented 8 p.m. Jan. 21.
Jerry Vale, the ambassador
of song for romantic music, will
appear 8 p.m. Jan. 22.
Richard Porter's "Celebration
on Ice," a production for the en-
tire family, will be presented 8
p.m. Jan. 28, 29 and 3 p.m. Jan.
30.

Symphony Sets
January Concert
The Ann Arbor Symphony Or-
chestra's Potpourri concert will
feature three works of varied
styles of the late 19th and 20th
centuries. The first work to be
performed will feature Oboist
Harry Sargous in Ellen
Zwilich's Concerto for Oboe and
Orchestra followed by John
Harbison's Concerto for Double
Brasschoir and Orchestra and
the Franck Symphony in d Mi-
nor. Maestro Samuel Wong will
conduct the orchestra in this
first concert of the new year
Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. at the Michi-
gan Theater in Ann Arbor. This
concert is sponsored by Society
Bank, the Michigan Council for
Arts and Cultural Affairs and
the National Endowment for
the Arts.
