Fact is, more Americans
may die by the fork than by
any other weapon. That's
because so many of them
use it irresponsibly. Like
to fill up on high-fat, high-
cholesterol foods. Foods
that can load the blood with
cholesterol, which can build
up plaque in their arteries,
increasing their risk of
heart attacks and threaten-
ing their lives. So next time
you pick up a fork, remem-
ber to handle it as you
would any other weapon.
For self-defense, not
self-destruction.

THIS SPACE CONTRIBUTED BY THE PUBLISHER

Todd Hoffman, local
playwright and actor from
Farmington Hills, perform-
ed his works "Pinballs in a
Broken Arcade" and "The
Alien" Sunday at BBYO's
Heritage Night. While Mr.
Hoffman was reading "Pinballs"
at the Maple-Drake Jewish
Community Center, the New
Ensemble Theatre in New York
City was also performing the
piece.

Spotted in the audience
was Berkely High School ju-
nior Erica Yelensky and
West Bloomfield High
School junior Shoshana
Kraus.

CHANUKAH ANAGRAM

After seeing the Chanukah
message from the Allied
Jewish Campaign in an
issue of The Jewish News,
Lillian Zelman of Oak
Park wrote a Chanukah
anagram for a program at
the JCC. It begins with "H is
for the heroes we honor'
today" and ends with "H is
for the holiday, festive and
bright. Light the menorah,
the holiday light."

BYE BYE BERNIE

More than 400 metro
Detroiters had the oppor-
tunity to attend the Bye Bye
Bernie Roast for sportscaster
Bernie Smilovitz, which
was recently held at the
Westin Hotel. Proceeds from
the event will sponsor the
Mitch Albom Dream Fund,
to provide scholarships for
students to attend the
Center for Creative Studies.
