The National Foundation for
Jewish Culture (NFJC) is invit-
ing submissions for the 1994
Sidney and Hadassah Musher
Publication Prize.
NFJC will award $3,000 to
facilitate the publication of a
' doctoral dissertation relating to
Jewish life in Israel or America
from 1880 to the present. Ap-
plicants must have completed
their dissertations and have a
commitment for publication
from an academic or university
press.
The deadline for submissions
is April 1, 1994, and the deter-
mination of this year's recipient
will be made by Aug. 31. For
consideration, candidates must
submit the following materials:
abstract of dissertation, letter
of intent from publisher, acad-
emic resume, reader evaluation
(other than by dissertation ad-
viser) and a description of man-
uscript preparation costs.
Application materials should

Dr. Barry Braver will be this
year's honoree at P'Tach's Bar
Mitzvah Year celebration din-
ner Jan. 16 at the Plaza Hotel
in Southfield.
Dr. Braver has served on the
Board of P'Tach for the past
eight years. He currently serves
as first vice president. Dr.
Braver helped P'Tach institute
new programs in both the Beth
Jacob School for Girls and
Darchei Torah.
Dr. Braver has a full-time
medical practice in Detroit and
serves on staff at Bon Secours,
Oakland General and Sarato-
ga Hospitals. The Bravers are
affiliated with Young Israel of
Greenfield, Congregation
Shomrey Emunah and Con-
gregation Beth Yehudah —
B'nai Israel.
