CHaZaKaH, the Adat Shalom
Synagogue seniors group, will
celebrate Chanukah, a birthday
party, and will learn about a
chapter in Spanish-Jewish his-
tory 12:30 p.m. Dec. 16 in a
lunch and program at the syn-
agogue.
Rabbi Efry Spectre will
give a slide presentation on
"Gerona: The Rededication of
a Medieval Spanish Center of
Jewish Learning." The talk is
based on his visit to Spain
several years ago.

Irving Howe
Celebration
The Sholem Aleichem Institute
will celebrate the life of Irving
Howe — the man, the literary
critic, the socialist idealist and
the Yiddishist 8:30 p.m. Dec. 3
at Franklin Pointe clubhouse.
Taking part in the program
are Rose Kaye, Ruth Bricker
Kroll, Irving Panush, and
Norma Shifrin. Selected read-
ings will be presented by
Shirley Benyas, May Mosko-
witz, Corrine Stavish and Ruth
Waldfogel.
Book Fair
At Beit Kodesh
Diane Allen, director of Con-
gregation Beit Kodesh Sunday
School, will sponsor a book fair
11 am.-1 p.m. Dec. 5 at the syn-
agogue, the funds to be used for
the Student Star award pro-
gram. Talking books will be
featured for children and adults.
The sisterhood also will have
the gift shop open for last-
minute Chanukah shoppers.
