Phil Jacobs, editor of The Jew-
ish News, will be the featured
speaker at the 66th opening
meeting of the League of Jew-
ish Women's Organizations
12:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at Congre-
gation B'nai Moshe.
Mr. Jacobs, also editor of the
Atlanta Jewish Times, was as-
sistant editor for nine years of
the Baltimore Jewish Times.
Mr. Jacobs helped influence
changes in Jewish journalism
by stressing a need for local
community news and events
happening within that com-
munity and has continued that
coverage for local news in the
Detroit area.
Mr. Jacobs is a three-time
winner of the Rockower Awards
given for excellence in North
American Jewish journalism in
the areas of investigative re-
porting.
The League of Jewish
Women's Organizations is an
umbrella organization of Jew-
ish women's groups throughout
metropolitan Detroit. The pres-
idents of the various groups
within the League will be hon-
ored.
There is a charge for the pe-
tite lunch which will precede
the meeting. For information,

The 59th annual donor lun-
cheon of Prinirose Benevolent
Club will take place at Beth
Achim Synagogue noon Oct. 19.
There will be entertainment
and prizes.
The next meeting will take
place Nov. 1 at noon at Lincoln
Towers Clubhouse. A petite
luncheon will be served.
The Jewish Community Center
Singles will sponsor a work-
shop designed for single and
married women 18-80 7-9 p.m.
Oct. 27. The class will give an
overview of preventive psy-
chology, sexual harassment, as-
sault and rape prevention
taught by a state certified in-
structor.
The workshop, held at
Maple-Drake, is limited to 15
people; there is a fee. Preregis-
