A Professional Theatre
ings and exposed duct work
that seems to create the air of
an artist's loft.
Seventeen-foot windows are
draped in hand-painted cotton
. . . with Risata's circular bar
made of honey-colored wood
and stone-topped.
Over-size black-and-white
photographs of the famous faces
of Second City actors remind
diners that fun is just around
the corner.
It is open for dinner Wednes-
day, Thursday and Sunday, 5
p.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and
Saturday, 5 p.m. to 12 mid-
night.
WITH THE closing of Stage
Delicatessen on Nine Mile Road
in Oak Park, there is now
thankfully only one "Stage"
. . . the fine Stage & Co. owned
by Harriet and Jack Goldberg
and operated by daughter
Sheila Levine . . . The one on
Nine Mile, which they originally
owned before moving to West
Bloomfield, had gone down
tremendously.
Stage & Co. on the Board-
walk, Orchard Lake Road south
of Maple, is nationally-noted
among the better delicatessens
around.
TYPO, ERRATA, ETC.
Dept. ... Stage & Co. closed
for Rosh Hashanah on Sept.
15, will close Sept. 25 for
Yom Kippur ... And since
the merger, it's K. Lefkof-
sky Vienna that supplies
their Kelly Corned Beef.
Correct address is 6873 Or-
chard Lake Rd.
THE WAY Marvin Berlin of
New York Carpet World looked
at it, his and Alice's son, Max,
was going to have the best wed-
ding money could buy so why
not a personal preference of the
finest in hair styling for the
groom and his bridal party
men?
He flew Al Nettle of Char-
terhouse Barber Shop in West
Bloomfield, and wife Joyce, into
New York for the marriage of
Max to Elana Meyer at the
Marriott Marquis Hotel.
Al did the hairstyling for
Marvin, Max, another son, Bill
Berlin, son-in-law Dr. Jeff Gold-
enberg, and son-in-law Jack
Schwartz . . . all localites.
Six hundred attendees saw
five dozen roses at each table as
they enjoyed the kosher dinner
entree choices of rack of lamb,
duck and capon.
ENTIRE CAST of 120 for
filming here of Renaissance
Man with Danny DeVito,
Penny Marshall and Leah
Pearlman were headquartered
at the Athenium Hotel in
Greektown . . . and from the
way Danny raved, it doesn't
look like he'll be staying any-
where else whenever in Detroit.
Danny is a health nut and
loves the Canfield Diet Choco-
late Fudge Soda he gets locally
plus A & W Diet Root Beer .. .
Judy Brills, Athenium director
of sales, had his suite refriger-
ator stocked with them . . . She
also answered his request for
an exercise room, two VCRs,
big-screen television and stereo
systems.
EIGHTH ANNUAL anni-
versary celebration by Michi-
gan Cancer Foundation Angels
is Oct. 16 ... The black-tie affair
at Ritz-Carlton, "An Extraordi-
nary Evening of Elegance," is 7
p.m. cocktails, and dinner at 8
p.m.
TWO MARTIANS landed
in Southfield . . . After roaming
about, they ran into one another
at a shopping center on North-
western Highway .. . Each
knew the other was from Mars
because of the ultrasonic vibra-
tions given out by Martians'
heads.
"Hello," said the first Mart-
ian. "Been on this planet long?"
. . . "Since Thursday," said the
second . . . "Quite a place, isn't
it?". . . "You bet" . . . "By the way,
what's your name?" . . .
"22Q506. And yours?" . . .
"82T498" . . . "That's funny,"
said the second Martian. "You
don't look Jewish."
DETROT-VEGAS Club is
up to 110 members, says Pres-
ident Maurey Pastor . . . Next
meeting is Sept. 19, at Spanish
Oaks Clubhouse, off West Sa-
hara Drive on Spanish Oaks
Drive . . . Hell have free passes
to see Allen & Rossi at Vegas
World for everyone attending.
WAITRESSES who ask,
"How is everything, honey?" or
"What are we having?" are not
being trained properly or at all
. The responsibility for these
very poor expressions belongs
to the boss who should be aware
. . . Many waitpersons could
care less if customers come back
. . . The boss does. ❑
