Barbara Kurtz
Barbara Kurtz-Fenster, 50, of
Saratoga, Calif., formerly of
Detroit, died Aug. 16. Ms.
Kurtz developed many model
social programs, such as a
teen-age-parent resource pro-
gram, a free clinic and a sex-
ual assault center. She
created the first rape preven-
tion center in the United
States.
Ms. Kurtz also was the
author of the software pro-
gram titled "Psychiatric Goal
Focused Charting System."
Barbara Kurtz-Fenster is
survived by her husband,
Martin; daughters, Alexis
and Sheridan; son, Bryce, all
of Saratoga; parents, Fredell
and Morton Fisher of Bloom-
field Hills; brother, Harold of
Birmingham; father- and
mother-in-law, Henry and
Ruth Fenster of Plantation,
Fla.
Laible Hoffmitz
Laible Hoffmitz, former
Detroiter of Bat Yam, Israel,
died Aug. 26. Mr. Hoffmitz
was the executive director of
the Israel Histadrut Cam-
paign. He authored the book
The Other Side of Israel and
many articles for the Israel
Zionist Press.
He is survived by his wife,
Shoshana; sisters, Fanny
Manley, Doris Krivy, Lottie
Goldenberg, all of Toronto,
Bina Atonoff of Israel;
brother, Jack of Israel.
