double-spaced and in-
clude a daytime phone
number of the sender.
Please include the date of
birth and cities of
residence for the baby's
family and grandparents.
Announcements re-
ceived by 10 a.m. Monday
will be considered for
that Friday's paper, but
space limitations may
delay publication.

On Dec. 5, 1949, eight mon-
ths after signing the ar-
mistice agreement with
Transjordan, the State of
Israel declared the western
part of Jerusalem its capital.
On Jan. 23, 1950, the
Knesset proclaimed that
"Jerusalem was and had

always been the capital of
Israel." However, by 1967
less than 40 per cent of the
diplomatic missions in Israel
had relocated to Jerusalem
from Tel Aviv.
