topic will be "Maimonides To-
day." Lunch and a lecture will
follow services. Havdalah ser-

tefillin will be at 9 a.m.
At the annual congregational
meeting, Thmple Shir Shalom
elected officers and board of
directors for 1993-94. Wallace
Sampson was elected for a
third term as president of the
congregation.

Annie Friedman, local
educator, has been named ac-
ting educational director of
Thmple Beth El's Prentis
Religious School. A graduate
of Wayne State University,
where she earned a bachelor
of science degree in elemen-
tary education, Mrs. Fried-
man also holds a degree in
Hebrew language, Jewish
history and religion from the
United Hebrew School
Midrasha. She has taught in
both religious and secular
schools, holding positions at
Brady School in Detroit as
well as at United Hebrew
Schools and Temple Emanu-
El. Additionally, she served as
principal at both Congrega-
tion B'nai Israel and Shir
Tikvah religious schools.
Mrs. Friedman is a foun-
ding organizer, charter and
Wallace Sampson
presidents; Alan Mindlin,
treasurer; and Norman Lynn,
secretary. Elected for three
year terms on the board of
directors were: Jessica
Cooper, Lawrence Gaynor,
Margo Lesser and Gordon
Weinstein.
The nominating committee
for next year will be Janet
Landsberg, Bennett Nathan
and Cheri Victor. ❑
