ject. Mr. Milgrom, who is
responsible for the fair's
entertainment, is anxious
and excited about the
prospect. "There are a lot
more artists in Ferndale
than ever before," he says.
When Kathy Jacobi first
proposed an art fair, she
was told it couldn't be done;
there wasn't enough time; it
would be too expensive. But
the city of Ferndale soon
found that Kathy Jacobi
doesn't give up. She kept
calling and visiting city
offices. She rallied her new
neighbors and business col-
leagues. It took the Art Fair
Committee a month and a
half to get permission from
the city, but on August 14
and 15, Ferndale will close
down Nine Mile Road
between Woodward and
Allen for its first street art
fair.
Ms. Jacobi smiles at the
idea of the art fair as a one-
time deal. "I have big plans
for next year," she says. LI
