nounced its inaugural spon-
sorship of the U.S. team
competing this summer in
the 14th World Maccabiah
Games in Israel.
In all, more than 5,000
Jewish athletes from 56 coun-
tries will compete in the '93
World Maccabiah Games,
held July 5-15.
The U.S. team is comprised
of amateur athletes from 40
states who will compete in 28
sports in four categories —
open, masters, juniors and
disabled. Among the different
competitions will be swim-
ming, track and field, tri-
athlon, basketball, soccer,
field hockey, table tennis,
softball, sailing and bowling.
American disabled athletes
will compete in tennis, the
half-marathon and swim-
ming.
