Spotlight Tour
Set For June 21
The fifth annual Spotlight
Tour of Detroit's Theatre
District will take place
5:30-9:30 p.m. June 21. It is a
walking tour of the Grand
Circus Park area including
seven theaters, two churches
and six cultural centers. Each
stop offers historical tours,
live entertainment, celebrity
hosts and edibles.
The Spotlight Tour benefits
the not-for-profit Grand Cir-
cus Park Development Asso-
ciation, dedicated to the
restoration and development
of Detroit's expanding enter-
tainment district.
Spotlight highlights this
year include Tiger announcer
Ernie Harwell acting as
celebrity host at the Fox
Theatre; a restoration in pro-
gress at the United Artists
Theatre; live jazz music from
the Graystone International
Jazz Museum; a clown troupe
and youth theater at the
Music Hall; 89X DJ Kelly
Brown at the State Theatre;
the Detroit-Windsor Dance
Academy performing on
Greater Historic Broadway
street; and the Swords Into
Plowshares art gallery will
exhibit works by a father-son
team from Prague titled
European Images of Peace.
