Hansen Exhibit
At Xochipilli
Xochipilli Gallery of Birm-
ingham will host a solo ex-
hibition of recent sculpture by
Stephen Hansen through Ju-
ly 2.
Stephen Hansen, born in
1950, lived in Michigan from
1966 to 1991. Now a resident
of New Mexico, Mr. Hansen
maintains a summer studio
in western Michigan. Self-
taught, Mr. Hansen is best
known for his work in the
medium of papier mache.
In addition, he also works
in wood, bronze, etching and
woodcut. Mr. Hansen views
his work as neither cynical
nor particularly sarcastic.
Rather than social comments
or criticisms, his pieces are
simply distilled observations
of the world about him.
Xochipilli Gallery is located
at 568 N. Woodward Avenue,
Birmingham. Gallery hours
are Tuesday through Satur-
day, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
