Danny Pinkas, well-known
Israeli writer and journalist
8:30 p.m. June 14. Mr. Pinkas
is an author and spokesman
on topics relating to
clandestine and intelligence
activities worldwide. He was
commissioned by the Israeli
military to document the
Israel-Egypt confrontation in
the Six Day War. A discussion
will follow.

Rabinovicz

Congregation B'nai David
will hold its 6th annual can-
torial concert 7:30 p.m. June
22 at the synagogue.
Joining B'nai David's Can-
tor Stuart Friedman will be
Cantor Pinchas Rabinovicz of
Beth Jacob Congregation in
Los Angeles. Cantor
Rabinovicz was born in Lodz,
Poland, and was raised in
Israel. He served as cantor in
the Israeli Army and also in
numerous congregations in
Israel.
The cantors will be accom-
panied by Cantor Sholom
Kalib. Master of Ceremonies
will be Max Sosin. The public
is invited; there is no charge
for admission.

Temple Plans
Review, Lecture

Rabbi Wine of the Birm-
ingham Temple will review
Operation Shylock by Philip
Roth. A discussion will follow.

1993-94 will mark the 50th
anniversary of the Chamber
Music Society of Detroit. The
season will begin Sept. 11
with an opening night gala
that will feature the Beaux
Arts Trio, the Cleveland
String Quartet, the Guarneri
String Quartet, as well as a
number of additional musi-
cians. This event will be at
Orchestra Hall and will in-
clude a dinner, performance
and afterglow.
The society's subscription
season will begin Oct. 6 at Or-
chestra Hall with a perfor-
mance by Musica Antigua
Koln, baroque chamber music
ensemble.
Cellist Yo-Yo Ma and
Emanuel Ax, pianist, will ap-
pear in recital Oct. 25. The
Cleveland String Quartet will
perform Dec. 5. Their 3:30
Sunday afternoon perfor-
mance at Orchestra Hall will
be highlighted by a guest ap-
pearance of pianist Jon
Kimura Parker.
Pianist Ivan Moravec will
make his debut Orchestra
Hall solo recital Jan. 23, in a
performance co-sponsored by
Oakland University.

Bel Canto
Will Perform

The Bel Canto Choral Socie-
ty will close the 1992-93
season with a concert 8 p.m.
June 14 at Congregation
Beth Achim.
The 30-member women's
choral group will perform a
range of music including
Broadway, classics and
Hebrew selections under the
direction of Eugene
Branstrom, with accompani-
ment by Rochelle Barr.
The Bel Canto Choral
Society is a non-profit
organization co-sponsored by
the city of Southfield. This
concert is being performed
with the cooperation of Con-
gregation Beth Achim. There
is no charge.
