Phoenix (JTA) — Cecil
Newmark, 87, Jewish com-
munity leader and publisher
of the Jewish News of Greater
Phoenix from 1961 to 1981,
died May 9.
A Phoenix resident for 64
years, Mr. Newmark came to
Arizona in 1929 from Har-
risburg, Pa. He was born in
Edinburgh, Scotland, and im-
migrated with his family to
the United States through
Canada.
In 1961 Mr. Newmark and
his wife, Pearl, purchased the
