Zionist Organization of
America will host a recep-
tion honoring Ezekiel
Leikin, executive vice pres-
ident of the organization,
on the occasion of the pub-
lication of his book, "The
Beilis Transcripts — The
Anti-Semitic Trial That
Shook the World," 7:30
p.m. June 1 at
Congregation Beth Achim.
The book offers a factual
account of the Beilis trial
staged by the czarist gov-
ernment in 1913 in Kiev,
Russia, which, along with
the Dreyfus affair in
France, ranks among the
most infamous anti-
Semitic attempts in mod-
ern history to vilify and
discredit Jews and
Judaism.
The speaker will be
Professor Todd M.
Endelman, William Haber
Professor of Modern
Jewish History and direc-
tor of the Jean and Samuel
Frankel Center for Judaic
Studies at the University
of Michigan.
Mr. Leikin is a graduate
of a Hebrew school in
Mariampole, Lithuania,
helped organize the Betar
youth movement and rose
to leadership positions in
the Zionist-Revisionist
Organization of America,
now known at Herut. He

moved to Palestine in
1936, was employed by the
Palestine Government
(British) Civil Service,
enlisted in the United
States Army in 1943 at an
American military base
near Tel Aviv and served
with military intelligence
in Egypt, North Africa and
Europe.
In 1980, Mr. Leikin was
awarded ZOA's Brandeis
Award for "exemplary ser- r/
vice to Zionism and Israel."
During the 1982 Israeli
campaign in Lebanon. he
worked as consultant to
Israel Foreign Ministry's
information department in
Jerusalem for a period of
four months.
