"My family learned about
the Heatherwood lifestyle...

mendations and conclusions
of another committee which
investigated charges of
abuse within Shin Bet
several years ago.
Headed by former
Supreme Court Justice
Moshe Landau, the com-
mittee also recommended
granting the agency permis-
sion to exert "moderate
physical pressure" on Arab
suspects.
The finding at the time
came under heavy public
fire, for fear that it could be
interpreted too flexibly by
interrogators.
The current guidelines
follow the Landau Com-
mittee recommendations in
that they advise the inter-
rogator to apply pressure
gradually, first using
psychological pressure and
only then resorting to lim-
ited physical pressure.

"I haven't had this much fun in years! I've met new friends. I'm involved

in activities. I'm happy — and so is my family. Before, housekeeping was a
chore, cooking for myself wasn't fun and I didn't feel secure living alone.
Now, my family has peace of mind...and I'm having the time of my life!"

Geneva (JTA) -- Moves by
the pro-Arab lobby to
criticize Israel were defeated
earlier this month at the an-
nual meeting in New Delhi
of the Inter-Parliamentary
Union, a Geneva- based
organization composed of
representatives from
government parliaments
around the world.
Israel was represented by
a delegation headed by
Knesset member Yehoshua
Matza of Likud that also in-
cluded Knesset member
Ra'anan Cohen of Labor,
Chaim Zadok, Yair Amikam
and Israel's ambassador to
India, Efraim Dubek.
During the meeting, held
April 12 to 17, delegates
debated whether they should
discuss the Israeli-
Palestinian struggle or the
situation in former
Yugoslavia, finally deciding
to discuss Yugoslavia.
The discussions focused on
the humanitarian situation
and on the violations of wo-
men and children's rights.
The absence of anti-Israeli
propaganda at this year's
session was a departure from
previous years, observers
said.
Traditionally pro-Arab
delegates, including those of
Pakistan, said their at-
titudes toward Israel were
changing now that the peace
talks were progressing.
The Indian news media
appeared to display a new
pro-Israel approach, and
many Israeli films were
broadcast on local television.
India apparently is eager to
attract Israeli tourists.
