Local Students March
In The Rose Bowl

CARLA JEAN SCHWARTZ L OCAL COLUM NIS T
of only was the Rose
Bowl game terrific for
the Paletz and Jonas
families of Farm-
ington Hills, but the half-
time festivities were equally
exciting. Their children
were part of the University
of Michigan Marching Band.
Matt and Libby Paletz,
children of Robert and
Susan, and Jennifer
Jonas, daughter of Jim
and Nancy are part of the
235-member Michigan Mar-
ching Band. Matt is a junior
at U-M and plays the bass
drum in the band, while
Libby is a freshman and
member of the band's flag
corps. Jennifer is a
sophomore and plays the
trombone.
The Marching Band ac-
companied the football team
to Pasadena, Calif., and par-
ticipated in the Tournament
of Roses festivities, in-
cluding a concert at
Disneyland and the perfor-
mance at the football game.
This was Matt's second trip
to the Rose Bowl and the
first trip for Libby and Jen-
nifer.
"It was an incredible expe-
rience. It was great to be at
the game and be a part of it,"
Libby said.

teer.
