pounds a week of whitefish
and the absence of MSG
(mono-sodium glutamate) in
its foods, restaurants keep
opening in West Bloomfield
but the traffic flow of business
acclaimed for 38 years this
..April at the Oak Park site,
continues also at Crosswinds
Mall, Orchard Lake Rd. and
Lone Pine . . . December was
seven months at Crosswinds
as Hoa Kow now adds more
"nowhere else" Chinese
specials for others to follow
. . . Owner Gene Woo is used
to this, just smiling and going
ahead with more . . . He likes
to play "Follow The Leader"
as long as he is in the lead.
CONGRATS . . . to Sophie
Keystone . . . on her 80th
birthday.
ABOUT 200 PEOPLE,
some with walkers and canes,
made it a wonderful and
heart-warming sight . . . Each
year, Olds dealer Jerry
Glassman puts on two affairs
in conjunction with the
Jewish Community Center
for folks who come to the
JCC's Jimmy Prentis Morris
Building on 10 Mile Road in
Oak Park . . . he couldn't be
here for the recent Chanuk-
kah party, vacationing in
Florida with wife Debbie .. .
but was represented by son
George and their two
daughters, Lenore Deutch
and Judith Etkin . . . The at-
tendees, in their 70s, 80s and
90s who come by themselves
or are bused, sang and danc-
ed to the Sam Barnett Band,
were served fresh fruit, coffee,
halvah, etc. at tables all with
menorahs . . . and eagerly
await the next one by Jerry.
RECENT HOLIDAY par-
ty by The Jewish News at
Somerset Inn could be
counted among its finest with
all the staffers accounted for
enjoying a lot of good fun.
Simone Vitale displayed
two of his many dimensional
talents . . . Plus having his
own band five years, he also
teamed with Joan Kenny in
karaoke bits between each
set, making for a lively even-
ing of continuous music
which The Jewish News
toilers relished greatly with a
lot of fun . . . When the occa-
sion calls for it, Simone also
keeps parties going as a disc
jockey/master of ceremonies
pairing with Kerry Russell.
He still has his advertising
agency, Simone Vitale &
Associates, and is producer of
three local TV minority
shows that have been taped
for soon release on Channel
38 plus cable access networks
. . . The "Jim McFarlin Show,"
entertainment, will have
guests like Bob Hope, Rita
Rudner, Bob Seger, Dorothy
Lamour, Ted Nugent, Smokey
Robinson among others .. .
The "Quentin King Show,"
sports, interviews Michael
Jordan, Cecil Fielder, Isiah
Thomas, Steve Yzerman,
Sparky Anderson, etc. . . . the
"Gerald McBride Show" is
with top 10 video tunes.
On the karaoke, disc spinn-
ing or orchestra (his next step
, is as a big band with horns),
Simone uses separate sound
systems for each.
The continuous music with
such versatility has been
creating a lot of good vibes
among attendees when Si-
mone Vitale is appearing.
IT WAS A memorable
week recently for Arline and
Al Gitt who moved to Arizona
13 years ago . . . Daughter
Victoria passed the California
bar and is now practicing law
in Beverly Hills, Calif. .. .
Son and daughter-in-law Dr.
Jeffrey and Ellen (Wolf) Gitt
in Scottsdale, gave them
another grandson, Jonathan
Samuel . . . and son, Dr.
Steven and Jodi Gitt of Ann
Arbor, presented Arline and
Al with another grand-
daughter, Alana Michele,
Steve and Jodi's first child .. .
So nice to be the bearer of
good tidings.

Fact is, more Americans
may die by the fork than by
any other weapon. That's
because so many of them
use it irresponsibly. Like
to fill up on high-fat, high-
cholesterol foods. Foods
that can load the blood with
cholesterol, which can build
up plaque in their arteries,
increasing their risk of
heart attacks and threaten-
ing their lives. So next time
you pick up a fork, remem-
ber to handle it as you
would any other weapon.
For self-defense, not
self-destruction.
