PETER D. DU PRE SPECIAL TO THE JEWISH NEWS
From economy cars to sports coupes,
from luxury sedans to recreational
vehicles, the buyer has many choices.
HONDA
Although Honda has marketed
the CRX and Prelude as sports
coupes, they have never had a
sports coupe that hit the emo-
tions and imagination like the
new Del Sol targa. This replace-
ment for the CRX is larger, more
comfortable and more powerful
than its predecessor. Addition-
ally, it's cuter, rounder, and has
a removable top and is reason-
ably priced, around $14,000.
The small specialty coupe
niche, where the Del Sol is slat-
ed to do battle, has become
increasingly competitive and
this new Honda is that compa-
ny's answer to competitions such
as the MX-3 V-6 and NX2000.
Powered by a 125-horse, 1.6-
liter, in-line 4-cylinder engine,
the Del Sol is sporty, fun to
drive and economical (29 city/36
highway).
Because it has a removable
roof, it promises to do well in
the Sunbelt and on the West
Coast. But wherever you live,
this cute little two-seater offers
lots of driving excitement for the
dollar.

The all-new Mirage coupe was
designed for automobile buyers
on a budget who want an eco-
nomical subcompact and those
who want good performance
combined with solid handling.
To meet these two divergent
needs, Mitsubishi offers the new
Mirage as a sporty sports coupe
and as an attractive four-door
sedan. Power in this new afford-
able car is supplied by a 92-
horsepower, 1.5-liter, in-line 4-
cylinder engine that drives the
front wheels. Two transmissions
are offered.
Base model S coupes come
equipped with a manual five-
speed transmission and ES and
LS models are available with
either the manual transmission
or a four-speed automatic over-
drive unit.
Whichever version of this car
you're interested in, you'll be
pleased to know that both are
reliable, economical and fun to
drive.
The success of Range Rover in
North America the past few
years has given rise to the re-
introduction of Land Rover into
the U.S. market, which was last
on sale in this country in 1974.
Land Rover is the parent com-
pany of Range Rover and the
move back into the U.S. has
meant a renaming of the
American marketing arm and as
of August, Range Rover of North
America was officially renamed
Land Rover of North America.
The new Rover, called the
Defender 110, is a five-door util-
ity truck with classic rugged
Land Rover lines. The truck fea-
tures front bucket seats, rear
bench seat, and additional fold-
ing jump seats in the rear cargo
area, giving it a seating capacity
of nine.
The Defender is powered by a
3.9 liter, 180 hp, V-8 engine and
is the most powerful Land Rover
ever built. Only 500 Defenders
will be imported for '93, so inter-
ested buyers should line up
early.
