Plan Campaign Talks

Federation/Campaign Shab-
bat will carry the message of
Jewish unity into Detroit-
area congregations through
January.
The annual Shabbat obser-
vance focuses on the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit and its Allied Jewish
Campaign, Detroit Jewry's
major fund-raising appeal,
which benefits thousands of
people through 60 health and
human service agencies local-
ly, in Israel and overseas.
Federation and Campaign
leaders speaking at area con-
gregations Jan. 15 are: Jane
Sherman, Federation vice
president at Temple Israel;
and Suzi Alterman, at Tem-
ple Kol Ami.

topic will be "Leaders Are

On Jan. 17 and 19, the an- 1
nual phonogift appeal will
reach out to women in the')

neighbors to help their fellow
Jews in need here and around -
the world. Federation's Young )
Adult Division will hold its
phonathon Jan. 25, and)
organizations and congrega- )
tions will have an opportu-, \)
nity to participate Jan. 26-29.
Throughout Super Weeks,
contributors will be asked to
rise to the challenge on behalf
of the Campaign. The new
Challenge Fund will make
contributing to the Campaign <
a double mitzvah: For every
dollar added to last year's
contribution, a matching
dollar will go to the Cam-
paign. New donors will see
every dollar of their gift
matched with two.
The Challenge Fund was
created by a group of donors(
to encourage increased gifts
to the Campaign.
