Mental Illness
Is Lecture Topic

A personal and professional
perspective on mental illness
will be offered by psychologist
Frederick Frese. "Both Sides
of Mental Illness" will be
presented 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17
at the Oakland County Com-
missioners' Auditorium, 1200

The event is sponsored by
the Oakland County Council

Psychiatric Disabilities.
Dr. Frese has been director
of psychology at Western
Reserve Psychiatric Hospital
for the past 11 years. He has
served on local, state, and na-
tional boards dealing with
treatment of mental illness.
He is widely published and
has discussed mental illness
on television.
The M.I. Council includes
Jewish Information Service,
Kadima, Keshet and Jewish
Vocational Service.
The presentation will follow
on "Relieving Stress and Nur-
turing the Family Unit,"
featuring Barbara Halpern,

the Oakland University Con-
tinuum Center and Macomb

tion will begin at 6:30 p.m.

JPI Sets
Sunday Classes

The Jewish Parents In-
stitute will begin Sunday
school classes Sept. 13. Regis-
tration will be taken 10 a.m.
in Room 150 of the Maple-
Drake building.
JPI offers classes for
children in nursery through
the 9th grade, emphasizing a
cultural/historic approach to
Jewish education. The b'nai
mitzvah program combines a
community-related work pro-
ject with a philosophical
study of the Torah and Tal-
mud, culminating in a cere-
mony shared by the students,
their families and guests.
For information, call
Marilyn Wolfe, 661-1000.
