Community Needs
Are Forum Topic

Several Jewish organiza-
tions will participate in a
forum for cooperatively iden-
tifying community needs 6
p.m. Sept. 16 at the Oakland
Intermediate School District
building, 2100 Pontiac Lake
Rd., Pontiac.
Issues such as health, fami-
ly, neighborhoods, basic
human needs and poverty-
related issues will be
explored.
The Community Needs
Assessment Partnership
(CNAP) is comprised of 19
prominent metropolitan
Detroit organizations, led by
the United Way for
Southeastern Michigan, that
will produce a community
needs report based on infor-
mation from a spectrum of
research and resources.
The Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit is a
member of the CNAP, which
is gathering information from
area agencies and com-
munitywide forums in De-
troit and Wayne, Oakland and
Macomb counties.
The final report will pre-
sent an overview of needs and
available services in the tri-
county- area. Service pro-
viders, funding sources, and
the community at large will
be able to use this informa-
tion to establish programs,
solve problems and develop
joint efforts and funding
requests.
Jewish Federation Vice
President James August
chairs the communications
committee.
For information about the
forum, call United Communi-
ty Services of Metropolitan
Detroit — Oakland Division,
